Andrea Friday is founder of Bonoby, which came from a dream that started when she got her first horse Bones, an off-the-track Thoroughbred. A few years later, in 2007, Andrea got an Alaskan Malamute named Koby. As she would walk around barns she was boarding at with Bones and Koby, her dreams of running her own facility started to materialize and the name Bonoby was created. Fifteen years later, Andrea had the opportunity to turn her dream into reality; Bonoby was started - a boarding facility with a focus on the health and wellbeing of animals; a place of peace and serenity; a horse oasis.

Andrea has loved horses since she can remember. As a young girl, she only ever read novels about horses. By the time she was 9, she convinced her parents to sign her up for horseback riding camp. And by 11, she was she was taking weekly lessons and beginning to compete. Andrea fell in love with the horses who needed the most work - usually an off-the-track Thoroughbred that was too skinny and didn't know how to do anything but run.

Over the years that followed, Andrea spent years working at the barn, teaching summer camps and lessons and competing in dressage, hunter/jumper and horse trials. She adopted Bones in 2003 as a 4 year old OTTB. Around the age of 8, Bones developed breathing issues and back soreness and Andrea's focus shifted from riding and competing to nurturing and learning as much as possible about horse healthcare and management. Andrea is currently working on her Diploma in Equine Studies through the University of Guelph

The vision for Bonoby is to allow horses to live as naturally as possible, while still catering to their individual needs. When horses are boarded at Bonoby, they become family and Andrea cares for them as she does her own.
